- FAR FROM EDEN -
I stood alone in silent awe
Beneath the canopyŚ
Then Nature spreads her leafy wings
And dumped her charms on me.

I crossed a gently flowing stream
By stepping stone to stone,
Until my foot slipped on some moss,
Which left me wet and prone.

Water beetles skimmed away
With unexpected grace,
While clouds of skeeters swarmed nearby
To feed upon my face.

A passing chipmunk stole my lunch
And shoved it in his cheeks
While blue jays swooped from far above
And pecked me with their beaks.

I scrambled for my waiting car,
As fast as I could fleeŚ
I came to sample Nature's gifts,
Not have them sample me!
