- HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES -
No help for a freshman, timid and shy,
Wandering hallways with someplace to be;
My backpack is lost and now so am I.

With no listing of classrooms or corridor map,
I'm alone in a crowd so much wiser than me;
No help for a freshman, timid and shy.

My future was wrapped in a frayed canvas strap
Which tore loose on the bus unbeknownst to me;
My backpack is lost and now so am I.

I wander past seniors who seek to entrap,
I stare down at nothing, pretending to see;
No help for a freshman, timid and shy.

The classroom doors beckon and locker doors flap
As the tardy bell issues its final decree;
My backpack is lost and now so am I.

If this was a dream I'd run home in a snap
And begin this dark day as a sick absentee;
No help for a freshman, timid and shy,
My backpack is lost and now so am I.
