- COLD MORNINGS -
The spreading daylight overhead
 Melts icy sheets upon my bed
And sweeps away the gathered frost
 Along with dreams forever lost
Without an inkling of the cost
 Upon the frigid hours ahead
And secret longings left unsaid.

Into each frozen day I'm thrown
 To reap the bitter fate I've sown
Because I failed to understand
 The warmness of an open hand
Or how a spark of love is fanned;
 So here I shiver to the bone
And face the icy dawn alone.
